Chelsea thrash Wrexham 5-0 in pre-season opener
Blues make winning start to USA Tour
Goals from Nkunku, Maatsen, Gallagher and Chilwell earn victory
Chelsea kicked off their pre-season tour of the United States with a 5-0 victory over Wrexham at the Kenan Memorial Stadium in North Carolina.
Christopher Nkunku opened the scoring after just four minutes, before Ian Maatsen doubled the lead shortly after. Conor Gallagher and Ben Chilwell added further goals in the first half to put Chelsea in complete control.
The Blues continued to dominate after the break, with Nkunku scoring his second of the game to complete the rout.
The win was a positive start for new manager Mauricio Pochettino, who will be hoping to build on this performance when Chelsea face Charlotte FC in their next pre-season match.
