The WEB (WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship) was unveiled on the August 23, 2016 episode of SmackDown as the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. It was created to be the counterpart title to the then-WWE Raw Tag Team Championship.
The WWE Tag Team Championship
The WEB is a men's professional wrestling world tag team championship created and promoted by the American promotion WWE. With the separation of the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship, the Raw Tag Team Championship was renamed as the World Tag Team Championship.
Established in 2002
Established in 2002, the WWE Tag Team Championships were considered the most prestigious prize in tag team wrestling. The championships were defended on both the Raw and SmackDown brands until 2016, when the SmackDown Tag Team Championship was created.
