Airman Rescues Stranded Hikers from Floods in Zion National Park

Zion National Park, Nevada, Flash Flooding

Heavy rains and flash floods have hit Zion National Park in Nevada, leaving hikers stranded and requiring rescue. An Airman from the 57th Rescue Squadron based out of Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada responded to the call for help and successfully rescued four hikers who were trapped by the rising waters.

According to the National Weather Service, the storms brought several inches of rain to the area in a short period of time, causing flash floods in the park's canyons and washes. The hikers were caught in one of these floods while hiking in the popular Angels Landing trail.

The Airman, who was on a training mission in the area, received a call for assistance from the Zion National Park rangers. The Airman quickly responded and flew to the scene of the flooding. Using a hoist, the Airman was able to rescue all four hikers from the floodwaters and transport them to safety.

The hikers were all unharmed and grateful for the Airman's quick response. The Airman's actions are a testament to the training and dedication of the men and women of the 57th Rescue Squadron.
