Fenerbahce's U-19 Squad Takes the Field in Turkish Super Cup, Resulting in Match Abandonment

Disarray in Istanbul Super Cup: Fenerbahce's Departure Leaves Galatasaray Victorious

Absurdity Ensues as Fenerbahce Field Junior Team in Istanbul Showdown

The Turkish Super Cup match between Istanbul giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce descended into chaos on Wednesday, ending in an embarrassing spectacle and an official protest by Fenerbahce. The match, which was scheduled to determine the Turkish Super Cup winner, was abruptly halted after only one minute of play when Fenerbahce coach Jorge Jesus withdrew his entire team from the field.

Fenerbahce's decision to field their under-19 team had been announced beforehand as a protest against the Turkish Football Federation's (TFF) decision to schedule the match during the club's preseason tour of Austria. Fenerbahce had argued that the timing of the match interfered with their preparations for the upcoming season.

Despite the announcement, Galatasaray officials had expected Fenerbahce to field a competitive team, as is customary in Super Cup matches. However, when the match commenced, only Fenerbahce's under-19 players took to the field, leaving Galatasaray bewildered and frustrated.

The match was officially abandoned, with Galatasaray awarded the Super Cup title by default. However, the incident has left a sour taste in the mouth of Turkish football fans and has raised questions about the future of the Super Cup competition.
